“We used Good Shuffle but began to outgrow it as our company grew.” So began our conversation with Spencer Russell, CEO, Keynote Event Services.
“We got on board with them in 2018 or 2019. While we were happy with Good Shuffle initially, its goal is not to be the most sophisticated platform. We started to run into challenges with issues like transfers between warehouses, serialization, and barcoding, not to mention RFID, and knew we needed something more robust.
Spencer and Keynote looked at every platform as they considered a move; Rentman, Rental Tracker Pro, Intellivent, and more before deciding on Flex. “I had heard of Flex for the longest time. We even considered it before choosing a more entry-level offering, but we didn’t think we were ready.”
When asked about onboarding Spencer shared, “The level of customer care and training that we’ve gotten from Flex is second to none. Because it’s so comprehensive, Flex can feel overwhelming in the early days. Its flexibility is it’s greatest advantage in the long run, but it can feel daunting to start. Nick, our trainer, has taken the time to help us learn how to connect all the dots.”
And what are his favorite dots? He quickly rattled off serialization and search. “Search has been great. We’re currently working on resolving shortages on a more regular cadence. We’re figuring out the best way to go through inventory on a two-week basis and calculate shorts that we need instead of just looking at it and being caught by surprise, “Hey, this job three days from now, do we have sub rental?”
In addition to Spencer, the company’s sales director, production director, operation director and managers, as well as the warehouse staff all spend time with Flex every day. Of course, the company’s three-person accounting team is in Flex constantly. “Our whole team loves it. That’s for sure.”
Because we always want to know where we can be better, we asked Spencer what kind of improvements he would like to see. He pointed out that he’s looking forward to the updated Quickbooks integration that is coming soon.
Before we wrapped up the conversation, which went well over time (thank you, Spencer!), he mentioned two more things. First a word of advice to new Flex customers (we love that), “Pick the places that add the most value to start and you can mature from there.”
Second should be no surprise, “Nick is just phenomenal. He’s like a wizard in there. If word gets back around, give him a name drop for me. He deserves it.”
You got it, Spencer.
